These maps cover illegal drugs including crystal-meth, heroin, Krokodil, MDMA and a host of other illegal drugs. I do not consider marijuana an illicit drug, as it is a natural plant which has important health and medicinal healing uses, does not induce violence [ quite the opposite ] and is now legal for medical use in many states.
The most heartbreaking map is the one that documents the high percentage of crystal meth use nationally, showing most severely in the heart of Cherokee territory in Oklahoma. The next most prevalent region of crystal meth use is in Saint Louis, West Virginia, Washington state, and the greater metro Los Angeles region, including Orange County. The entire US west coast is in a state of epidemic use of crystal meth, as the maps show. More maps covering this topic can be found here.

Illicit Drug Use
“Illicit drug use in America has been increasing. In 2011, an estimated 22.5 million Americans aged 12 or older—or 8.7 percent of the population—had used an illicit drug or abused a psycho-therapeutic medication (such as a pain reliever, stimulant, or tranquilizer) in the past month. This is up from 8.3 percent in 2002. The increase mostly reflects a recent rise in the use of marijuana, the most commonly used illicit drug.”
